Blue Christmas
Description
Christ the King invites you to a special service designed for those for whom the holidays might be difficult. If you have undergone a difficult loss, transition, or life change, the church cares about you and invites you to a special time of music and worship. The idea behind the services is to provide a quiet, contemplative service as an alternative to the more traditional gatherings as a way to care for those who are sad or struggling. Services like this provide an opportunity for people to hear about the God of love who comes to us in the midst of the mess and pain we know in our own everyday lives and the lives of those around us. The service itself is very simple – a mixture of music and readings to narrate the Christmas story; prayers which acknowledge pain and emptiness alongside the Christian hope; a reflection which gently speaks of light in darkness. We keep the length to no more than 40 minutes, and leave times of silence, not rushing to fill every moment with word or song. Future Dates: 3rd Sunday in Advent at 2:00 pm (12/12/2021)
Cost: Free (Donations accepted)
