Our Vestry
Congregations that have been granted parish status by their diocese are governed by their rector and the vestry. Traditionally, and by canon law, the vestry, consisting of wardens and other members, is the legal representative of the parish “in all matters concerning its corporate property and the relations of the Parish to its clergy,” accept as may be provided by state law or diocesan canons (Constitution & Canons [of] the Episcopal Church, I.14.2). The number of vestry members and term of office varies from parish to parish.
Most vestries have the following officers:
The Presiding Officer is the Rector or Priest-in-Charge.
There are usually two wardens. The Senior Warden traditionally chairs the Vestry in the absence of the Rector and leads the congregation between Rectors. In many parishes the Senior Warden is a support person for the Rector. The Junior Warden, if chosen, often has a particular responsibility for church property and buildings.
A treasurer and secretary or clerk, who may or may not be vestry members, may be chosen. The treasurer deposits and disburses funds and oversees financial record keeping. The secretary keeps the minutes, gives notices of meetings to the parish, and maintains vestry records.

The first Sunday I walked into Christ The King in 2016, I knew I had found my church home. I am currently Senior Warden, and I also am in charge of the Ushers/Security Personnel. Before that I was the Junior Warden for two years. I recently joined our new chapter as a member of the Daughters of the King.
I was born in upstate NY, one of six children. I joined the US Navy from 1973 to 1976. After finishing my time in the Navy, I was able to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a Police Officer, where I worked for the Federal Government for 32 years as a civilian Police Officer on military installations. I moved to Lakeland, FL in 2011 after retirement. I enjoy helping my family, friends and neighbors, and spending time with my friends where I live. I love working outside. I enjoy spending time with my partner and our two dogs. |

Baptized and raised a Lutheran, I became an Episcopalian in 2016. I became a member of Christ the King, and was asked to serve as the church secretary in 2017.
My business career started at Merrill Lynch a stock investment company, in 1971, but in 1973, I was challenged by my pastor to apply for a secretarial position at the Synod Office (equivalent to the Diocese in the Episcopal church). I was blessed to serve on the staff of the Metropolitan New York Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for 30 years, working with 4 Bishops, and retired in 2004. |
I currently serve as the Treasurer and on the Vestry. I was born a cradle Episcopalian in Skowhegan, Maine. My family moved to Florida when i was a teenager. I graduated from Lakeland High
School and attended Polk Community College. I have been married to William (Ronnie) Ready for almost 39 years. We have one daughter, Jennifer who is married to Curtis Wright, they are both employed by Publix Corporation. We have 2 beautiful grandchildren, Aidan and Keira. I worked in the banking field for 43 years before retiring to take care of our granddaughter, Keira, when she was born. I have attended Christ the King almost since it's inception in 1985. |

Jim was born not far from Stonehenge in England and arrived in Florida in 1963. His family has a long history in the British Army, so naturally Jim joined the US Army and served from 1966 to 1969, and became a US citizen in 2011.
He is a former Production Manager for Baxter HealthCare, building Kidney Dialysis machines until his retirement. Besides being active at Christ the King, Jim now spends his time as a machinist, wood worker (boats & furniture), and bicycle mechanic, for anything from kid's tricycles to adult three-wheelers. He also supports various Olympic, Ironman, and other endurance races. As Jim says, "His favorite person is the one to whom he is speaking." |
A lifelong Episcopalian, wife, and mother of 3 adult children, Sarah has attended Curisllo and has served on both men and women’s Kairos teams. She is a seasonal employee of the Polk County Supervisor of Elections Office. Since finding her home at Christ the King she has greatly enjoyed participating in the Ladies Nights Out, as well as serving on the Altar Guild and being a part of the newly formed Daughters of the King chapter. She is excited for the opportunity to serve her church family in a more influential role. Having owned and operated a family business with her husband Phillip, Sarah believes she will be an asset to the vestry with all God has brought her to and through during her life thus far.

Jessie cherishes her CTK family as she does her own family. She has attended Christ the King since 2000, and both of her boys know CTK as their home. Raised Catholic, received into the Episcopalian faith, and reaffirming her faith in 2014, her walk with God has only gotten stronger. Jesse has been involved in many aspects at church (sound team, children's chapel teacher, building update team, VBS, car show, acolytes, Boars Head, etc.) and is going to be starting as a Lector in January.
