Blessing of the Animals
Description
The Blessing of Animals is an outdoor worship service held each year on the Sunday in October closest to the Feast Day of St. Francis (October 4th ). Francis is the patron saint of animals, whose love for all creatures was legendary, he inspires us to remember that all creatures are created by God. The service is open to the public and all well-mannered pets are invited. **Please do not bring aggressive animals** All creatures are welcome to receive the blessing (in baskets, containers, or on leashes as needed to protect them from other nearby animals). So bring your dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, gerbils, guinea pigs, horses, snakes and even your fish for a sweet, loving, hands-on blessing. Our animal friends are a blessing to us, so it is fitting that once a year we can offer them a blessing as well. Water and treats will be provided for our animal friends.
